wd's and anything generally made by them like the external toshibas, hp's etc. the hitachi tuoro line was not like this prior to being aquired by wd but i do not know if they are like this now or not being owned by wd im sure they will be eventually. this normally is also the smaller portable style drives BUT i have now seen 2 models of 3.5" versions made this same way.

WD used to be a good brand but I stop buying their stuff
a few years ago because of the way they seem to want to build them
all started with a green hard drive, that drive would always have a small
delay anytime you let it sit for 10 minutes or more, used to drive me
nuts till I got rid of it, now I won't have anything to do with them:thumbd:
unless it is some of their old stuff:cautious:

Hmm, the ones I have seen used a removable adapter, which is what that one image seems to be. That said, It appears I stand corrected. Thanks.

As my older external HD is a 'smallish' USB 2, I took TS' lead by buying the 1.5 TB Seagate GoFlex (USB 3) HD from Costco and did my first backup onto the GoFlex last night. It is one sweet drive (but TS is right in that the supplied cable is much too short)!
