I have tried to go to the http://www.ewido.net/ website, but so far (after several hours of trying) I only get the browser's rotating load icon.

It seems to be back up - but very slow.

Do you guys keep checking it for the same reason? I have a peek every now & again hoping to see a notice that Ewido is back after their asset-stripping honeymoon with AVG! :(

Yep; letting the browser try, it will load after some 30 minutes, but most images are missing. The server may simply need a reboot.

The reason why I go there from time to time is the free online scan. I haven't seen that on the Grisoft site.

Ah yes, those days are gone I'm afraid. I notice Grrrrsoft is on the hunt for other companies they can put the knife to.

Can't say, the new hunt for companies is driven by the investors of Grisoft, and I think the acquisition of Ewido was as well. As you can see, Grisoft is driven by its investors and not by Grisoft International BV in Netherlands.

Whether the newer acquisitions will be a good thing or bad thing remains to be seen, but at least Grisoft's AVG Anti-Virus products have definitely improved as a result of the Ewido acquisition. As a Grisoft customer, I am quite satisfied with the services offered by them, but I understand how the Ewido users feel.

Geography course 101. Tokyo is in the eastern part of the world. ;) But the Ewido website works in Canada also, which is not.

Hi, folks: a bit OT; my teacher at elementary school used to tell us this: the direction where the sun rises is the EAST. Therefore, Tokyo, or China is the west to me, here in Eastern Canada/USA. :)

    Was that an insult?

I was just stating that I live in an Eastern (Asian) country, and I am not having any problem accessing the Ewido website. I said this because looking at Perman's post, I thought it was implied that the problem might be location related. If you noticed, I said Eastern part of the world. I know the east from the west, thank you....

No it was not an insult. Just having some fun at your expense as I noted the OP's location. I'm sure your you know your east from west and your north from south as well. ;) Apologies from a "charming sneak operations expert" :D
