Looks alittle suspicious to me. May contain spyware/adware.

I use this software, heard about it on a local computer TV show... it has works fine for me. I like it.

I run 2-3 spyware programs regularly and they don't detect anything in SecretMaker.

    Hi G Man
Have you tested the 'privacy feature' by any chance? It's supposed to block your ip address. Does it work? You could test it here if like: http://www.electronicprivacy.com

it doesn't work, as the second I went to your site they had my IP address

But I use Secretmaker more for it anti-popup and anti-banner features... and for that I can attest that it does work and the interface is as user-friendly as it gets.

It cleans the history of explorer & windows, erases cookies, and has something called a "worm hunter" although I'm not convinced it does anything worthwhile:

"The Worm Hunter works to prevent the spread of computer viruses. Many users do not have a virus scanner or firewall. However the Worm Hunter works fine together with or without them.
Worm Hunter reduces the danger of spreading email viruses by limiting the amount of outgoing email within a specific time, without disturbing normal work.
This is the one best way to avoid email worms."

It doesn't sound like too bad a program. But when i checked out their homepage and all the things it can do in one free package, it just seems too good to be true. But thanks for trying out the privacy feature. Hope the program works out ok for you.

Just found out Secretmaker was making my computer crash... beware:

    My computer crashed again.

This time it just crashed instead of restarting since I had disabled the feature in XP that had Windows restart if an error occured.

Instead of restarting without giving me a clue what the problem was, the computer crashed and a blue screen appeared telling me the problem was with c:/windows/system32/smtcpmon.sys

It said "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA"... whatever that means.

After a quick serach on the net, I found it's part of the SecretMaker program I use, an all-in-one spam, banner, popup, and cookie blocker.
It sent me to some message boards where people seemed to be discussing the problem but it was in dutch or german so I don't have a clue what they say.

Anyway, I'm guessing I'll just have to uninstall SecretMaker and all will be well... I'm now in need for a good free banner/popup software if anyone has any suggestions.

Warning, be careful of any software tha claims to be able to hide your ip. Those that really do it, use a remote proxy, by rerouting your connections through another server. This will most certainly slow down the connection and there are privacy risks of course with the server in the middle being able to know all about your surfing activities.

    Hello G Man

MyIE2 works just great as a banner/popup blocker and it is free and found here. Try it out for yourself and see. It is based on the IE engine, though, which must be installed for it to run.

    Be seeing you
