    Hi,

Yesterday I upgraded to ESS 6.0.306.0 from within the 5 version. Everything works OK till now, except one annoying issue concerning the new Scanning improvements of downloaded files. (I assume at least).

If I want to download a zipfile(+/-400kb) from a website (after login to this website), de download starts but never ends. This happens both in latest Firefox and latest Chrome browser. When I temporarily disable protection the file gets downloaded without problems. Scanning the file afterwards proves the file is clean.

So this proves that Eset downloadscanner triggers this endless download.
Alas I do not find anything in the Eset logfiles.

The file (it's a Joomla! component) installs without problems in Joomla!
I've uploaded the file to another webserver using FTP and after that I downloaded the file again using HTTP. Now download succeeded without any problems. So the file itself is OK.

Anyone knows what reasons can be of this annoying behavior of the downloadscanner. With Eset 5 I never had this trouble...

    Regards,
    Klipper

I cannot provide download url, because you need to login for it. It's a payed download. (membership). I cannot post my login and password to a public forum.

    The site itself is aclmanager.net

After lots of annoying tries I'm a bit further in my investigation of this annoying problem. These endless downloads happen by the HTTP/HTTPS scanner of ESS6. When I disable the scanner, all endless downloads fly into my computer, at the the end still scanned for viruses.

I also find out that this http/https scanner slows down lots of websites, even localhost on port 80.

Can someone point me to the risc of surfing and downloading with this scanner disabled, or can someone point me to a solution to fix this.

This troubles started with ESS-6. With ESS-5 I never had problems with it.

The http/https is a very handy to block malicious scripts, malicious advertisements, block of infected downloads before they can reach your hard disk or prevent you to visit malicious websites. What you can do is exclude the website where you download files from. Open ESET 6.0 GUI go to settings, advanced settings, web and e-mail settings, secured/protected web access, url list (database) there you can exclude the website from being scanned don't forget to press on ok to save the settings.

If you today do your download - is it still slow? Servers or their connections have from time to time a problem or are limited in the connection stream.

    While your problem happens:
Start a second download from an other server.
Try www.speedtest.net and check your Internet-Connection

Also make sure that you have all Windows updates installed, including the latest one KB2789397 addressing issues in Windows Filtering Platform.

    Hello,

If you open Mozilla Firefox, enter about:config to view the Configuration Options and set
    browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone to value of boolean:false
    does that make any difference?
