Had been using v4.2 for some time. Upgraded a few months ago to v5. Seems fine although I've had issues using LogMeIn with site certificates and never able to get it fixed. Temp fix was to disable that feature.

Anyway, what's the poll out there for v5 vs. v6 of ESS? Recommendations?

    Thank you!!

    Hi,

Well I think it depends on your needs, but basically in most cases you should use latest versions since some features are introduced that should make your computer safer. Of course as moderators said in many threads here core protection is not changing - but those 'new features' I mentioned before are designed to make protection better. So in my opinion V6 (even if it is not stable yet as we would expect - it will become better and better in near future).

If you considering to upgrade to V6 then you might want to wait a little while longer since a service build is in the works that will include fixes for outlook plus other fixes. But of course you can also upgrade now if you want, and simply download the build when it's available. :)

Did the service update roll out? Also, do you have to download the latest or does ESS download and install the service update. I have a swappable HDDs and have Win8 with ESS 6 installed. I'm rarely in that environment and am in Win7 with ESS 5. I'm ready to migrate with ESS 6 looks solid.

Is it still recommended to uninstall/cleanup the old version before installing the latest?

Absolutely yes to reduce problems that may occur during and after installation.
