I am considering to buy ESS, and wanted to test the suite before
    making a decision.

I downloaded the trial version from the ESET web site, and installed
the suite after removing my current suite which will expire at the
    end of March 2008.

Having tested the Suite, I wanted to remove the trial version so that
I could reinstall my current suite. However, the uninstall process froze
when the program said there were 4 or 6 seconds to complete the
removal process. I killed the removal process and restarted the
machine only to find out that my dial up connection was not
working anymore. I kept receiving "Error 720" which can happen when
the TCP/IP is somehow unbound from the dial-up adapter.

I could have tried to uninstall and reinstall the TCP/IP protocol, but
I performed a system restore to a clean state.

Is there an ESS removal tool which can be used to properly uninstall
    ESS.

My machine is running under XP with SP2.

Had seen a similar problem when removing ESS. The program appears to 'freeze' with a display of ~5 to 6 seconds left. In my case it eventually completed the removal after a few minutes. I think that there may be a problem in the time remaining display that is misleading. If you encounter this problem in the future try the removal again and this time wait longer to see if it completes. Do not know of any ESS removal tool.

    This is ... let's say ... known bug :(
You need to wait for about 2 minutes (around 120 seconds) but the uninstall does complete at the end.
