ESS causes problems with DVD/CD writer

Have been having problems when watching DVD. It would stop, then continue, stop continue etc. Interference with DVD and CD burning as well. I noticed ekrn.exe was maxing out CPU. To get around this problem i have to kill the ekrn.exe process and all works fine. Any reason why it would be doing this. It even happens on music CD's, data CD/DVD's as well. Is a pain as i do a lot of home video editing and it also freezes my video editing software when i am previewing. There does not seem to be anyway of completely shutting down ESS while i am doing this work.
