I just upgraded to ESET SS 6. I started ESET SYSRESCUE to see what it was all about. I get a dialogue box that indicates Windows AIK/ADK is not installed or corrupt. When I clicked on the "click here" to install Windows AIK, I get a Microsoft Download Center webpage that indicates "Automated Installation Kit (AIK) for Windows Vista SP1 adn Windows Server 2008. I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64 on a stand alone pc connected to the internet via DSL modem. In other words, I'm not on a home network. I searched Windows Download Center for a Windows 7 version of AIK and it is a hughe download; 1.7GB. There's also a AIK Supplement for Windows & SP1 that's a 1.3GB download.

What is Windows AIK and how come I never had to have it loaded before for any other software? Do I need to download this Windows 7 optional component or is the AIK already supposed to be on my system, but it's corrupted and ESET SYSRESCUE detected the corrupted component?

    Thanks for your assistance.

    Regards

    Hello tjg79

AIK, its a lightweight version of Windows that can be booted from a usb or a cd, before the existing OS. In this way Eset creates access to files which are otherwise locked or in use. And yes the Aik file is a tremendous file you have to download for you to create the Sysrescue cd or usb, but the good thing is , that there is plenty of time for you to take a coffee break. :D
