@ ITman -- thanks for the info. I hope they offer other support venues. It will be a long while before I visit their forum again, if ever. @ Sealord -- Good to know. 10Q! @ anybody -- As to user-configuration of the HIPS, is it: (1) Very configurable? OR (2) Moderately configurable? OR (3) Barely configurabie?
I received 2 emails from invision cloud community (evidently NOD32's forum). Each of them gave me links to replies to my post on their forum. I have never been able to view that post. Neither was I able to view the replies to my post linked by the emails I received. In all cases, I received the same message... Obviously either the forum is malfunctioning OR I have been banned from its environs even though I have never yet been able to even visit that forum in the first place.
Hello, New versions of ESET NOD32 Antivirus, ESET Internet Security and ESET Smart Security Premium version 11.2.49.0 have been released and are available to download. ESET NOD32 Antivirus ESET Internet Security & ESET Smart Security Premium
Correct, no auto update as usual. I hate this about ESET products. I had to redownload it and install over the top using their online installer.
Thanks Kent! It's also at the Eset "News" at https://support.eset.com/news6905/ PS: the general link to the Eset "News" is https://support.eset.com/news/ (where other announcements can be found). Installed over the top using their offline installer.
Yeah I hear you. I downloaded the offline installer and then installed over the top. No issues that I have seen as of yet.
In the update tab of the ESET product, you should eventually see that a version update is available. Click Accept and update [or similar] and update to new version should begin.
I am sorry but we care about our users and use a safe approach when releasing new updates. If there was a problem with the new version, with this approach not many users would be affected. However, if we updated millions of users at once, possible issues would have a big impact on the user base.
FYI : Several users posted at the Eset forum about a problem with Delphi. Eset is looking at it. https://forum.eset.com/topic/16237-probleme-debug-delphi-with-eset-11249/
About this new one in the changelog "Added: Security reports under Tools section". I got very recently a notification pop-up about it. I hadn't looked at this new "tool" previously. For those interested here is an article about it: https://help.eset.com/eis/11.2/en-US/idh_page_security_report.html That option lets you also see some info about how Eset worldwide protected you in a global map (well, something like that in the words of Eset).
I saw it for the first time yesterday and then today. After reading your post I went looking for it in the program. Not easy for this old guy to find. The pop-ups are new. Any idea why they are happening all of a sudden?
Hi Jadinolf, Maybe I should have posted how to find it; sorry about that. A bit late now but here is how to get there: Tools > More tools (in the right bottom corner) > Security report Yes, the pop-up is new. I don't know why they are happening all of a sudden. Maybe it started with the first day of this month (August); just a wild guess. The Eset article I linked to, tells how to disable the pop-up if you don't want it.
Oh, I want it. I have ESET Internet Security on three computers and use them all the time and never saw pop-ups on the other two. Thanks a bunch for the information.
You're welcome jadinolf. A few other quick remarks: In Tools > More Tools > Log files > Events you can see that the pop-up was logged. For those who haven't got the pop-up, here is a screenshot of it: In the global map you can hover your mouse-point over it to see more info per country. (works when you're online). I noticed that there was later also a thread about it at the Eset forum: https://forum.eset.com/topic/16280-how-do-i-get-here-eis-security-report/
@itman Hi itman, Please allow me a little remark on your post about an hour ago at https://forum.eset.com/topic/16163-how-to-eis-112490/ The fact that the log file says that the Detection engine (the virus signature) was updated, doesn't mean that other modules weren't updated too. It is easy to verify when you save the list of all modules at the About tab and compare them later. Anyhow, just a very little remark. Sorry about that
Correct. But in the majority of update instances, it is the signatures that are being updated. Additionally, there are now pico updates which are not logged at all.
Funny, I go to the ESET forum several times a day(just out of boredom) and must be spending less time than I used to. I checked the world map and see that U.S. and Canada don't get hit too hard. Heck, I've been on computers for years and the only virus I ever had was put on by a tech who didn't know how to protect a floppy drive. That was before I knew how to fix my own computers. McAfee found it as soon as I got back from his shop. I have NOD32 on two computers and Internet security on three. I feel that I am well taken care of.
I will ask again here @Gein Did you tested the performance of the latest version of ESET? I ask cause most of the links you posted seem to be related to old versions.
