I'm trialling FD-ISR and am, so far, quite impressed but I'm getting errors in event viewer: Code: Event Type: Error Event Source: VSS Event Category: None Event ID: 12289 Date: 02/10/2007 Time: 01:00:05 User: N/A Computer: STEVE Description: Volume Shadow Copy Service error: Unexpected error GetVolumeNameForVolumeMountPointW( \\?\Volume{7ed146a5-5f7c-11dc-a8ac-0019db31fc2c}\, ...). hr = 0x80070003. There are no errors in the FD-ISR log and the snapshot seems to be fine.
No, I've just been using Cobian up until now (and will probably continue to do so for my data partitions). This is my first, and long overdue, foray into the world of imaging.
That is probably true but there are evidently problems and I don't want to risk my system or invest in something that is producing errors.
Interesting. No errors are produced when doing an archive. Still playing with it as I'd really like to buy this software. One thing I saw mentioned on these forums which caused a bit of concern though was that FD-ISR was no longer being developed - is that true?
Not at all. What you are probably seeing is reference to the fact that Raxco is no longer a reseller. Leapfrog doesn't sell directly but thru 3 different resellers. Pete
tarsins, Did you any tweaking after installing Windows, because that might cause the error. My guess is that you can't change from vss to rss or vice versa either due to that error 12289.
Try e-mailing the support of whoevers version you are trying, before you buys is the best time to find out how helpful their support is.
No. I've just had a new machine and I took the opportunity to investigate imaging software before I started "messing". I don't know how to do that, anyway.
Problem solved. It was Daemon tools and its virtual CD drive that was causing the VSS errors. So what's this RSS?
