Went to update my SpywareBlaster today and I got the message

Database Error the SpywareBaster database may be corrupted or missing. check the link below to Check for Updates ......

I did this and got the message

There was an error downloading the database files.
Make sure that SpywareBlaster has access to the Internet and that you have disabled any proxies or other filtering programs.

I've never had trouble downloading the updates before and haven't changed any of my settings. I hjust keep getting in a loop with the above message. All I can think is to uninstall SpywareBlaster and redownload it. But I'm sure you are supposed to stop it running first and i can't remember how to do this. Is this my best option.

    Thanks for replying snowbound.

I don't know why myfirewall would suddenly stop allowing SpywareBlaster access.

Can't disable all protestion as there is nothing there to disable now. Just says database error beside everything.

How do I manually download the required file and where do I go for it?

SpywareBlaster HAS permission to access the internet, just checked it.

I don't want to be without this protection so how do I get the files to manually update it?

    Hello Joan,

On those 4 files instead of clicking on the link....just right click the links and select Save Target As.......then follow the rest of the instructions about overwriting "the ones currently in your SpywareBlaster directory (C:\Program Files\SpywareBlaster by default):"

Thanks Bubba for telling me exactly how to get those last four files.

Where are the instructions about overwriting the files in the SpywareBlaster directory? Do I just open the spywareBlaster folder and pop the ones I've downloaded into it?

Will this mean Spywarblaster is uptodate?

Sorry to be such a bother but I'm old and need to be told what to do.....
