    Hi to all,

I hope you may help me with the following problem.
    1.) Preconditions:
I am using a notebook with Windows XP Home SP2 and True Image 10, build 4.942. Now I had a harddisk crash. I could only save my data partition, my emails and the settings, using TI for these tasks. But I did not succeed making an image of the OS partition or to clone the OS partition to the new HDD. TI always stopped with the message like "errors on the disk drive".
    2.) What I did:
After installing a three month old OS partition image (which was made with another backup software, because I did not possess TI at that time) and the data partition (saved with TI) the system is running again. In the last three month I installed Microsoft small bussiness edition at the DATA partition (OS partition had not enough space). So I was able to save it with the image of the data partition. But I wasn't able to save the corresponding registry entries and the other settings within a complete image of the OS partition. I thought it would help to save at least the settings with TI (it has such a pre-defined setting).
    3.) The Problem:
But I am not able to use the backup, that contains the settings and registry settings. The error message is: ""Kann Registry-Schlüssel nicht öffnen" (My translation would be: Cannot open registry key). This message occurs two times. One time with error code 0xB03E9 and one time with error code 0x550003.
I could not find anything about that errorcodes.
I thought, that the purpose of saving the settings is to install them again if they are lost. But exactly this is not done by TI.
    Why?

Has anybody an explanation for this behaviour of TI?
    Any answers would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long text, but I tried to be as precise as possible.
I hope my description is clear enough.

    Cheers

    Hello MapSteff,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Please be aware that beside the application settings modifiable by application interface there are also internal variables set by application itself (such as, for examlpe, if the application is registered or not, or where it is installed), either during the installation or during the work of the application. Acronis True Image only backs up the former ones. Therefore, as noted in chapter 5.2.3 "My Application Settings backup" of the respective User's Guide, "if an application seems to malfunction or ceases to run you are supposed to reinstall it using the last updates and then recover your settings from the backup".

If you have any further questions concerning Acronis software, please feel free to submit a request for technical support or post any of them on this forum. We will certainly try to help you in resolving any issues.

    Thank you.

    Thank you for the answer.

Concerning the problem that I could not restore the settings, I found a solution:

First, I only have to restore the registry settings
Second, I have to rerun the same image and retore all the other settings

    Cheers
