Well, I solved it by simply importing the password database from SafeInCloud. I still need to test the browser extension from Enpass. But what I never understood is if password managers needs to be running in order for the extension to work. Do you perhaps know this?
OK cool, so basically the extension will need to communicate with the Enpass desktop app, in order to access the password database on disk. Believe it or not, but I never fully understood how these password managers worked together with the browser. But I guess this method is saver than storing passwords in the browser itself.
KeePass is my daily rider. I maintain Enpass just in case. Reset Enpass + Erase Everything ...then... Import KeePass Database.xml ...works okay, for me.
Enpass Export offers json, txt, csv. Enpass Import from KeePass only xml Enpass (Traditional Win32) for Windows PC 6.6.0 https://www.enpass.io/downloads/ https://www.enpass.io/release-notes/windows-pc/
I already solved the problem by exporting passwords to SafeInCloud and then to EnPass. I have also learned to always make a backup of the KeePass database to a text file, because importing passwords from other file formats can be problematic.
I have finally decided to install the Enpass browser extension in Vivaldi, but should it automatically fill in passwords when Enpass is running in the background? Because it doesn't seem to do it, I keep having to manually search for passwords.
When you get to the login page, click the Enpass extension icon, then double click you login details from the drop-down.
No correct, I can do all of this, but shouldn't it automatically fill in the password once you have already manually selected the password? So let's say I select Yahoo Mail manually, then shouldn't it recognize it when I return to this page? I mean browsers I have got no difficulties doing this.
manual auto-fill seems to work for me....when I place cursor + double click...for example: AskWoody. Spoiler: AskWoody Spoiler: my Browser Autofill Settings Enpass for Windows PC - 6.6.1 (809) Enpass extension 6.6.0
It's still not clear to me if you guys understand what I mean. When you use browser like Vivaldi or Firefox they will always ask you to save username and password for websites. After that, it will always auto-fill both username and password. Is Enpass supposed to work the same or what? Or do you always need to manually copy and paste login info via the extension?
Sorry, I've no experience with Vivaldi. From Firefox ....Enpass click fill seems to work for me....I'll place cursor + double click...for example: AskWoody. #112 I do not manually copy and paste login info from the extension. My preference with Enpass is click fill. My preference is click fill & click submit. Just me. Caveat: Enpass is not my daily rider password manager.
But do you have to search for AskWoody in the extension? Or does the extension automatically recognizes that you have visited the askwoody.com website and then autofills username and password?
I'll go to askwoody.com....then use Enpass extension click-to-fill. Enpass extension knows I'm on askwoody.com because Enpass extension offers me askwoody.com to click. Spoiler: askwoody.com R U asking if Enpass extension can autofill credentials? Spoiler: Autofill settings Spoiler: keyboard shortcut for autofilling Spoiler: mark item as autofilling
Thanks, it's still not really clear to me. But autofill doesn't work for me, so looks like I will need to search for another solution like LastPass. But I don't want to store my passwords in the cloud. Also, I have been reading very bad things about Dashlane.
What's not clear is if Enpass is able to work like I want it to. So let's say I go to amazon.nl for the first time, I then select username and password from within the Enpass extension. Now I go to amazon.nl for the second time, can Enpass then fill in username and password by simply clicking on the extension button? If not, then I will need to look for some other solution and besides, all of a sudden the extension won't work together with the Enpass app anymore.
My Amazon is two page (Email + Password) Sign-In & OTP. Double click "Amazon" each page, works for me. Spoiler: Amazon Sign-In
So if I understood correctly, you still need to search for login information before it will fill in username and password after double click. This is not true "auto-fill" in my book. Browsers handle this in a better way, so weird why most browsers don't come with advanced password managers.
Enpass extension knows I'm on Amazon. Enpass extension offers me amazon.com to click. Maybe, play with Enpass Desktop for PC to satisfy yourself whether Enpass is / not to your liking.
Enpass for Windows updated to 6.6.1 (809). There were release notes in the update prompt but they haven't been posted as yet... or I haven't found them anyway.
