Okay, thanks, but being a bit dense, I'm still not clear. I think I will need to enter the original user name and password supplied by my vendor to reactivate my subscription when I install the newer version, correct?

Also, will the information found here work to preserve my settings?

If you install over your current version, it will ask you if you want to keep the current settings. Say yes.
After you install, you can stop the Emon and Dmon modules from running.
If your password is good now, it will be good after you install the newer version.

Okay, thanks very much Ron. I'm not crazy about installing over the top of anything, but I'd trust NOD32 over other apps.

I'm not fond of installing over the top but in this case, it works just fine.

It takes me a bit to reset all my custom settings etc.. I just installed over the top and it kept everything perfect....
so far this is the best version I have encountered.

You have absolutly nothing to lose to try it... it only takes about 2 minutes verses the whole reinstall bit..... if you still don't like it, then uninstall it!

Looks like another "over the top" success story. Extremely fast installation too.

Looks like we can go "over the top again," since 2.51.26 is out now.

An official from on high still needs to explain why component updates -- whether important or not -- never seem to happen otherwise.

Automatic program component updates are released when a major change has been made to the code. Amen.

I just upgraded to 2.51.26 from 2.51.20 (Windows ME) over the top. Seems it went smooth as silk, but I have a question. Can the contents of the install folder inside the Eset folder in Program Files be deleted?

    Thanks for any info provided.

I just upgraded from v2.51.20 to v2.51.26. I did it over the top, and all my settings were saved. The only weird thing that happened was, after it updated to the 4/4/06, 1.1471 signitures, my NOD icon in the taskbar turned black. Panic set it. I re-started and the nice green NOD icon is back. I don't know what happened, but I guess all is ok.

Let's wait and see/ hear what's new or had been changed into 2.51.26.

I hope, Marcos will clear it up

My guess is only integration of the latest complete update and heuristic module.
A change from 2.51.20 to 2.51.26 means very little has changed; no big changes because of the small increase in version number. :)

    From the other thread:

    April 04, 2006 - Program components version 2.51.26
    Kernel
-fix for CVE-2006-0951 vulnerability exploitable by local users to gain escalated privileges

    AMON
-fix for MUI (Multilingual User Interface) on 64-bit OS

    IMON
    -fix for .NET applications
-fix to active mode on 64-bit OS

    ThreatSense.Net
-changes to the server balancing system

But remember, "automatic program component updates are released when a major change has been made to the code. Amen."

Cough. Yeah, I can't imagine why anyone would want these updates -- or the couple others since 2.50.25. Amen. And I'll thrown in a hallelujah for free.

Will anyone do three Hail Marys for us?

I still wonder why you have to update this stuff manually.
I mean avast! updates on the fly for each program update, BitDefender does the same, also AVG and AntiVir. But not NOD32, Kaspersky is following the same logic, McAfee also as far as i can remember etc. Donno...

When I first installed NOD32 (Sept. last year) from CD, I had a program update immediately after installing it, since then only advanced heuristic module and engine.nup updates, I think.

I have installed two new versions (at least in number) over the top since then without a hitch. I do wonder if the install folder inside the Eset folder can be emptied after installing a new version. I like to run as lean as possible for back up purposes (use fewer CDRs).

Well so far, I can't download it.. the server won't let me in... I don't outdate till next October and my existing 2.50.20 works fine...

I wonder why it won't accept my username and password... is the site down or malfuncitoning?

Opps... nevermind my baddy.... I was trying to download the administrator version.
