Emsisoft Antimalware Home is still detecting itself as malware (well BitDefender definitions in it are)

Managed to get in touch with someone from Emsisoft this morning but it looks like they aren't having much luck at getting the detection quashed either.

Got this email this morning when asking for a refund:

"This is Khawer from Emsisoft. Thank you for reaching out.

The issue is known to our team and are currently working on it. Please click on false detection.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused."

    That's quite funny.
Submit that file to Bitdefender instead from here: https://www.bitdefender.com/business/submit.html
From the product list, select the first one. It would be better if you zip the file (without password) along with a readme text file explaining that it's a legit Emsisoft file.
Bitdefender's response is the quickest when submitted from this portal.

I think BitDefender have already been contacted, I am positive that Emsisoft will have been the first ones to contact them. Just did another Emsisoft scan now and it's still detecting itself.

It seems odd that BitDefender is doing this to a program that it provides most the definition files for.

There is probably delay due to it being Sunday. I have great experience with the submission page I shared above because that's their business submission portal and BD product's business services is active 24/7, including Sundays. So, submitting there probably would have solved the issue quicker. But anyway, I guess it will be solved tomorrow.

Now Emsi doesn’t have any customer service on weekends ?

It wouldn't have been like this before,
or at least there is an official forum,
    but now ...

I have been disappointed by my recent Emsisoft involvement. They selectively ignore aspects of [any/my] email communications.

I have doubts about company ethics, as one begins to wonder, when one does see, i.e. "Thank you for reaching out" BS.

It was like "like pulling teeth", so to speak. Not an experience I would wish to undertake, again.

P.S. Image amended from the original, to protect those identities, of course.

When they closed their forums a couple of years ago, that's when I began to wonder. They used to be tops in customer service and many topics in their forums were actually fascinating. Now that's all a memory. Is Fabian Wosar still on the team?

Keeping it 'in-house' resulted in going around in circles as my aforementioned post clearly indicated.

I decided it was time to take it from 'in-house' to the 'outhouse', so to speak, and let the chips fall where they may.

P.S. I even tried escalating my complaint to the 'big kahuna' at Emsisoft, but go no response from there.

Looks like EAM isn't being flagged any more.

I never liked the signing in portal thing so have never done it, instead just staying locally based. Why do I need a portal to run my own machine software ? Everything seems to be business orientated.

Online chat doesn't seem to be well staffed at weekends, lots of software seems to be like this now.

I stick with EAM because it doesn't upset my machine and give pop up offers for add-ons all the time.

So I stick with them....for now.

So do I ... Can't say I have noticed any negatives - but I do suspect Fabian Wosar is no longer around unfortunately.
Also prefer local, but I did transition to the portal thing, but it just runs in the background really.

This November 15, 2023 Cybernews article says Fabian Wosar is still alive and kickin as Emsisoft's Chief Tech Officer:

"This CFO gets on cybercriminals' nerves by discovering vulnerabilities in ransomware payloads"

    Indeed .

However , a company like Emsi, which serves tens of thousands of users around the world,
at least a minimum standard of service must still be provided on weekends,
In my view , at least the email service must remain open and not disappear/invalid just because of the weekend.

It's been a long time since I've seen Fabian Wosar post in any public forum. he has made some posts on Malwaretips before.
he also discussed various issues with everyone quite enthusiastically , but one day he suddenly disappeared completely.

In fact, not only Fabian Wosar, after the official forum was closed,
Emsi employees are also rarely seen in public.

People change all the time, and so do Emsi’s employees, of course.
but I have to say that from many aspects and the opinions of other netizens,
Emsi's service quality is indeed not as good as it used to be.

Not to go too much OT but maybe AI in the form of a chat bot can step in and partly fill those weekend shoes. It's taking over so many other places already. I guess there's costs involved though and Emsi is not a wealthy company like it was. Hope I'm wrong about that.

Could not agree more! WELL SAID!
The canceled 16 of my keys because they are “too old” and will no longer be honored. Seriously? And don’t get me started on the cookie cutter/ scripted emails. Christian should be ashamed of himself. Keep lining your pockets pal, forget about your loyal customers.
I salute you with Tarnak’s avatar!
