It does not say to remove the .dll file itself, just the entry in a list.

As you see from my post that is what Emsisoft recommends.

Here is their reply when I asked if I was compromising security:

if you remove the .DLL entry there are no restrictions for your security. DLL files are loaded by executables. So if the executable scanned and detected the DLL files are also blocked.

You can also try the option "Scan only programs before they are executed" instead of the option "Additionally scan all files when they are created or modified" to get a better performance.

I am currently looking into those delays some of you are experiencing. For those of you affected: Would you mind sharing a few information about your system with me? I am most interested in:
    • Your processor
    • Your amount of RAM
    • Your hard drive model
    • Applications running in the background
Some people also reported that the problem is especially bad with certain applications like VLC, TeamSpeak or Visual Studio. So if you experience severe delays only with certain application I would appreciate the name of the application as well as the exact version of the application as well.

If you don't want to post your information in public feel free to send it via PM or mail (fw@emsisoft.com).

    Thanks! :)

    @Noob
I also do the same. Do you use EAM in paranoid mode?

Says in you sig you use Zone Alarm. I assume if you have removed it all traces of the drivers are gone?

I use OA and EAM on win7 64bit and have no CPU spikes.

This may be a couple dumb questions but I'll ask anyway. Is anyone using the freeware version (not the portable emergency kit version but the installed one)? If so, I'm assuming it will have the same Bitdefender and Emsi sigs as the payware version at every update...is that correct? Also, does the freeware version provide any advantages that Hitman Pro does not provide? I believe the freeware version can do a full system scan while HMP scans just what is in memory...is this accurate?

I also use default settings. I have absolutely no idea what those settings mean. Better to leave them alone.:D

Freeware version is the same as full eam. Only protection features are disabled. It becomes a scanner.

To make it easier for you: :D

Freeware = No real time protection but has full on demand capabilities (No realtime scanner, No behavior blocker, No surf protection)
    Paid license = Everything included

I did not know there were performance settings in EAM until you asked me.
I think i read about it a few weeks ago when EAM v7 was in private testing but i just didn't take it seriously since i didn't care about such a feature. Hahahahahaha :D

    What do not you understand?

    processor.PNG

    01. Use only 1 cpu core or all (2-4-6-8 core)
    02. Nuber of treads: how much file to scan at a same time
    03. Thread priority: whether the EAM have the same priority as the apps currently running or will have a high / low versus them

Thank you so much for taking time to explain it to me my friend.:)

I still do not understand 01 and 02. How do I know how many cpu cores I have? my pc specs are given in my signature.
What is the relationship of number of threads and the number of files scanned at the same time? I mean if choose thread 3 for example how many files will be scanned at the same time?

And last but not least, what are the consequences? How do I know which setting to use? I mean I don't know what will happen if I set thread priority. When should I set it to below normal, critical or normal?

I hope you could understand my confusions.:doubt:
