This was a problem with Ikarus engine , no more with Bitdefender.
There is a large update when you install 7.xx but thats because it is a beta.

Initial download takes more than 10 minutes on my machine.
Beta seems to download same signatures a second time after reboot.

Ikarus is regularly among the first in the indipendent av's tests. For tests are worth.

Thanks. The final 7 release will delete Ikarus, or we have to uninstall the previous version before installing 7 final, or... ?

When you run an online update with the beta now, the no longer used engine files and signatures are deleted automatically.

The final version will most likely not require an uninstall/reinstall as it can be directly updated like a minor version release.

I set the Configuration -> Update Settings -> Use beta updates and run an update, and after at least half an hour of the update manager running, it finally updated to v7.00. It downloaded 125 MB, approx.

I decided to run a quick scan, and immediately got a BSOD.

Rebooted, and tried a quick scan again. This time it ran ok

There have been some large updates in the last few days. I think i've downloaded around 100MB of updated in the last few days. :D
I don't really care since it only takes a couple mins but it might be important for others. :D

That's normal because we have also published new software beta updates and lots of new signatures packages during the last 24h.

Typical signature updates should be around 1-3 MB when the final version is out.

  24. Yeah huge update! Wonder where that came from? Must be busy!

After two days away from this snapshot, got a 60 MB update to v7.0.0.8.

Tried to run a quick scan, but it wasn't going anywhere, and after 15 minutes decided to cancel. However, I had to forcibly terminate EAM in the end.
