Less, i noticed that Mamutu is in your signature. You can't run EAM 6 and Mamutu at the same time. Mamutu is integrated in EAM 6 and if it runs twice on your system things go wrong. Follow the advice given by Thankful, and choose between EAM 6 and Mamutu.

The memory leak fixed in 6.0.0.51 was only present in the beta builds to begin with. In general performance has been greatly increased in 6.0 compared to 5.1. If you haven't tested 6.0 yet you may want to give it a try :).

Fabian is correct, I was referring to beta builds that had a memory leak.

    I see.
Well, for some reason EAM doesn't like my machine, it really slows it down big time.
Real shame, because it's the only AV that I would run, really like it, but can't use it :(

Have you posted about your problem on the EAM forum?

You might get a solution there.

Same here. Mine uses around 160,000KB. Posted on their forum and waiting for some assistance.

That's strange. Are you sure its not 16,000 K. On my windows 7 machine background guard scan takes 16,900 K and uses .02 % CPU (Uses 0nly .3 [3 tenths of one] % CPU for a Deep Scan)

Are you running any other security program with it. On my Windows 7 machine it has no noticeable effect whatsoever.

Just Zemana and Admuncher. And yes, it's 160,000 KB.

Just the Comodo firewall (with everything else disabled in the suite).
    Nothing else running.
    Windows 7 , dual-core, 8gb ram.

I always had this problem with EAM, not just me, but it's like that for most of the people.
There are some people who seem not to have slowdowns, or they just don't care about it.
    I can't really tell.

And I really take good care of my system, meaning I know what I'm talking about.
I've tried different AV solutions/suites in the past and nothing was so "bloated" as EAM.
Everything is like in slow motion, it takes a minute for windows media player to open, task manager even.
Without EAM it's instant , it's instant with other security programs as well.
What's even more interesting is that even if I disable ALL of the shields/guards, even shut the EAM down completely, it's still somehow "slowing" things down.
    It's unreal :)
I uninstall it, everything goes back to normal.

I was running OA++ in the past and I always wondered how that program didn't had that problem, since the same AV engine is used.
But I had to remove OA because the firewall was making huge DPC latency spikes, making the multimedia experience problematic.

btw on my system, memory usage was around 100k, sometimes higher , sometimes lower (not lower than 80k), but I don't think that memory usage is a problem with EAM (I mean, in my case even if 500mb was used, I would still have 7gb of memory available) , execution of apps is very very slow, for whatever reason that might be.

    @pabrate

Quick question for ya. What setting did you have file guard on? Did you ever try using the setting "scan only programs before they are executed."? Not saying that would have solved ya program just curious if you did or not. I've had EAM hit 100k on my laptop but only when windows 7 is first loading. Afterwards it goes back to 30k-40k. The way the engine is setup in OA++ is different. It is on execution only.

Yes I did tried that, and I believe that's the default setting in the latest versions.
Besides, like I said, even with the shields disabled, effect is the same (it takes for example Task Manager ten seconds to open).
Sometimes when you try to open it again (right after the first time), then it opens instantly, but if you try to do that again after lets say 1 min, same thing happens. It's like that with every application, Task Manager is just an example.

Never mind, I'm not trying to bash EAM here, it doesn't work well on my system and that's all.
Maybe in some future versions they will improve performance and then I would be happy to use it :)

Even after I got rid of Zemana, Emsisoft usage is still sky high. A scan was using greater than 500,00KB. I had to ditch Emsisoft. Hopefully someday they'll fix the problem.

Ok thanks for your response. Nah I didn't think you were bashing EAM. I've seen EAM not work so well on some systems, so no worries ;)

I don't have any issues with slowdowns. I currently have EAM & OA Premium installed on 2 PC's. First one is my laptop which has an i7 processor, 4GB of ram, and uses Win 7 Pro x64, second PC is my old desktop which uses a P4 processor, 2.5 GB's of ram, and Win XP Pro SP3.

No slowdowns here either. The combo of EAM and OA Premium runs lighter on my Windows 7 Pro 64 bit laptop than OA++ used to and just about everything else I have tried.
