   I am using 4 snapshots and have 4 archives located in a folder on an external HD.
   I was constantly updating (manually) the archives.
   Today I found out that the folder is empty, but the "free space" on the HD
   shows that the content of the archives are inside, but where?

   If any of the above apply to your external disk then you'd have a problem.
