I am currently trialing NOD32 to compare with KAV.
On looking at the EMON scan report it tells me that just 7 files have been scanned (0 infected/deleted).

What does "7 files" mean, is it complete folders as in "Inbox" and "Sent Items" etc, or does it mean something else?

It means that EMON scanned 7 files. EMON scans recieved/sent/viewed e-mails and their attachments of course, too.
    For example:
EMON scanned an e-mail with 3 attachments and then another e-mail with 2 attachments... it is just example. But be sure, everything is scanned by EMON in Microsoft Outlook:)

So, leaving aside the maths then  is "7" a rolling total for the day, time the PC has been up or total since NOD32 was installed?
Doesn't make sense to me at the moment.

it is the total scanned files since you start your computer from the last time

My math is good. Cause 3+2=5 attachments + 2 e-mail bodies:) so 5+2=7 files

ok ok, right ... all my apologies ..... ;)
But only if bodies are scanned ... not by default, depending of the body format :D
