Alright so DeltaSync is out of the question since I use Gmail. Any other alternatives besides Thunderbird I should consider?

Windows Live Mail also does pop and imap, it isn't limited to the DeltaSync protocol. If I was using Gmail as my main or only account I would definitely go with imap, much more practical than pop3.

Mulberry is well-known to be very good with imap. I've never used it myself, but rumour has it that it can be a bit complicated and has tons of settings and features. It is also now open source, it used to be a pay-for app.

I tried it out. In full screen mode it was totally messed up. There are 3 panes by default. When it was maximized the top right pane went all the way to the top right corner, the bottom right pane went all the way to the bottom right corner and the pane on the left was centered in the screen with huge gray gaps between and resizing didnt work.

Which one did you try, Mulberry or WLM? Sounds pretty ugly if it's showing up like that.

Just started playin with this in a VM and you might want to check it out. Not open source but free and is very responsive. So far just tested my aol account but IMAP works fine.

may i ask a question about thunderbird?

i have to install an extension to thunderbird and yahoo mail account, haven't i?

and is there a way to "format" the answer
    i mean add
Dear Sir (the name of the sender ,automatically added by thunderbird)
    answer

    and quote the origianal message

how can i setup thunderbird to customize the answer format
for example a pro answer , i mean a nice format answer
for format i mean a nice template

    thanks

    sorry for my poor english

Sadly there is no on/off switch for Junk mail filter. You have to create a custom filter to achieve this. Below is a screenie of one such filter, it works like a charm.

Yes! However, Yahoo only works with paid version or if you get "pop" for free.

Not quite sure about what you mean here. When creating an account, it will ask you how you want your name to look so maybe you could adjust that here. You can set your reply to be "on top" or "below" the quote when replying.

You could maybe achieve what you want with the Wisestamp extension.

    Not sure - i'll have a look.

That is strange - it might of been from a previous agreement between those parties.

Do you have "free yahoo or paid" ?? Some countries get "free pop" but not North America so check that. There is also a possible workaround to get free pop by changing your yahoo settings. It works for some but not for me.

Well, i've moved it from a VM into Time Freeze on my real system and am going to give it more time. Hasn't been bug free for me (error twice during folder sync) (IMAP) but so far i like it. I still get the occassional errors with Thunderbird 3 too.

To me the IMAP functions seem faster than Thunderbird.

Thunderbird has browsing from your inbox but EM has inbox chat - decisions decisions lol! :D
