I think this is off topic ( my bad ). This thread is about Edge. Anyway, disregard what people say and try it with your collection of worms if you are curious enough. Else, just disregard it. Its not holy grail but it gives you an additional line of defense.

By the way, the E: is assuming your usb drive.

Disabling autorun is also a good step, but I didn´t touch that since our usbd is intended to be plugged everywhere. And we don´t go around poking other people´s registry, do we ?

Let´s stick to the topic, shall we ?

It will be a few days before it is released to update as we have to wait for AVs to whitelist it, etc.

You can, however, download it from the Prevx-website and install it over your current Edge.

I suspect because you have the beta version installed?

    I downloaded 3.0.1.2 from here:

    http://info.prevx.com/downloadedge.asp

Installed over the top of 3.0.1.1beta, running nicely.

With reference to the initial question in the thread - Prevx Edge is the only AM app I would bother using in support of my trusty Avira and A2. I believe it adds a genuine layer of protection, imposes minimal drag on the system and the support is top notch.

Downsides are - it can be a bit flakey (it has crashed a few times - but is more reliable with each release) - and thats about it really.

In conclusion - well done to the vendor. Hope business goes well for you.

Thank you for the vote of confidence :) This new release is far more stable than previous ones so if anyone does experience any issues, please let us know regardless of how minor they may seem :)

Perhaps I missed it, but didn't see anything about running in tandem w/ESET Security Suite. Been running Prevx right along side of their BETA version 4 for the last week. I don't even know its there except on booting up! Small footprint and ver 3012 scanned 13.635 files in 2 min, 3 seconds upon boot up. Same amount of files scanned in 38 seconds between bootups.

Absolutely no problems on XP Pro SP3. Outstanding job, Prevx! Its a keeper.

    Hallo Prevx,

if the computer is turned off and therefor a scheduled scan is missed, Edge scans after boot-up, but unfortunately not after wake-up from unconsciousness. :D

    Just that you know...

This version re-enables a disabled scan feature with the database, nothing new visibly but it will improve detection :)

If Edge could wake the dead/unconscious, we'd charge more :D

    So I am glad it can't. :D

I meant something different. If the laptop wakes up after hibernation, Edge does not scan, even a scheduled scan has been missed.

Yes, this is true :D It will only scan near bootup if the scan was missed because the computer was off for a full day (for instance).

That means, that my laptop isn't scanned for several days in some rare cases, even I told Edge to do it daily. That compromises the scheduler.

Well if you leave your computer on when the scheduler is set to go, then it will run it. However, yes, hibernation would override the 'on bootup' flag and it would be possible to get stuck not scanning if you have the daily scan set to run when you're always hibernated.
