On an admin account, I have some programs that were installed for "All Users", but many were installed only for the current user.
I would like to basically make a "copy" of the admin account including all installed programs, desktop, etc. and then make it into a Limited User Account.

Right now if I create a LUA, only programs installed as "All Users" appear and none of the application customizations or desktop and start menu are present.

What is the easiest way to create an exact copy of the admin account which can then be set as limited?

    To copy a user profile:

    1) create temporary account.

    1temp

    2) create your new admin account

    2admin

3)reboot and log in to the 1temp acccount.

    Open System in Control Panel.

On the Advanced tab, under User Profiles, click Settings.

Under Profiles stored on this computer click the user profile you want to copy (old admin account),
and then click Copy To (2admin account).
click Browse to select the path.(2admin account)

when finished reboot and then log in to 2admin account and delete 1temp account and make the 2admin account limited
    (user accounts in control panel)

    Attila4000,

    Thank you very much!
It didn't work at first because I created the 1temp account as a Limited User not Admin.
This meant there was no Copy To button.
Changed it to admin then made it to the next problem.
After clicking Browse and selecting the path to 2admin profile folder and clicking OK, I got an error:

    Profile Error
Failed to set Security on the Destination Profile.
    Error - Access Denied.

    I am on XP Pro.
After a little searching, I needed to remove simple file sharing (My Computer/Tools menu/Folder Options.../View Tab/uncheck Use simple file sharing (Recommended)/OK). This enabled the Security Tab.

I then needed to do the following for both the source and destination profile folders:
Right click profile folder/properties/Security Tab/Advanced/Permissions Tab/check Replace permission entries on all child objects with entries shown here that apply to child objects.
Owner Tab/check Replace owner on subcontainers and objects
    OK, OK

Then I was able to follow your profile copy instructions and it worked very well.

Here are a couple of links that were helpful:
Failed to set Security on the Destination Profile.error-Access is denied. (scroll to bottom of page)
How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP
copy a user profile in Windows XP

Afterwards, many of the start up programs don't work properly in a LUA.
The theme is not working and desktop background is solid black instead of a background picture.
The desktop icons are there, but not in the same order as when admin.
Many programs produce errors when run.

So there is a lot of work to do, but it is a good start.

    Thanks again.
