I have Avira 9 Prem. and my E Mail can't get through with the default settings. Now don't get me wrong I like Avira. They have a forum so I checked for others having the same problems. I wanted to find out what they did. That is when I found out that I'm not a trusted member. I can post, but I can't reply to any other posts. There is 2 scans for mail guard. I shut down the advanced scan and mail can now get through. Has anyone here had the same problem?

do you also have a firewall running at the same time?
I had to put Outost into 'rules' wizard when I ran Anti-Vir version 9
and make a rule for it

I think Comodo has "Training Mode" which is similar to Outpost Rules Wizard.
Put Comodo in Training Mode and it will automatically create rules for Avira. Also in Defense+ settings, better add Avira Gmbh as trusted vendor.

What do you mean with that? I've checked the email configuration but i don't see any 'advanced scan' for the email.

If you go into Mail Guard, Configuration, Expert Mode, it shows two Heuristic scans.

In another seperate box "Low detection Level";"Medium detection Level";"High Detecion Level"

Apology if offtopic, but anyone use successfully Avira 9Personal/Premiun with Eudora email v6.2x / 7.1.0.9 or with The Bat v4.11x?

Apprciate any tips/settings that may help for avoiding conflicts with email.

In Avira 9 can we fully disable email scanning (for virii) ?

    SKA

Ok thanks. No i don't have the problems you're experiencing (i use outlook express). Yours may be related to your email client, not sure. Keep checking the avira forum for any update.

Which ports do you need, 110 and 25?
Just asking, because for example gmail uses others, like 995 and 587(some use 465 for the latter)
I don't have any problems with AV Prem 9 receiving nor sending emails. (using Comodo too)
    I hope we're talking about POP3?

Then I'd point to comodo or other 3rd party security app (not to mention any OE add-on you may have installed). In my case, avira premium is my only security program.

I use Gmail's pop & smtp servers from Thunderbird, so none of my mail is scanned as it arrives & departs via SSL, which is not scannable by 99% of AV programs.
So - no need for an email scanning service!
