ImgBurn for regular, Burrn for audio under Windows, for Linux I leave it to good old K3B, does the job well.

I just found out about imgburn here at wilders. Did some testing, and found out that this is a great freeware. Works perfectly on Vista :thumb:
So I would like to withdraw my vote on Nero. :)

A great piece of software is Infrarecorder! I recently found out about it and it is very very good! With this and ImgBurn you will never need anything else! Both free of course!

Ok, now that has touched a subject or query that interests me, in the context of that paragraph, what would be the difference between an "iso image" and "DVD files" I always thought an iso image was something an imaging program creates of a drive or partition, but am starting to think I am wrong there. Have tried to read up on iso's but got a bit bogged down.
So am wondering in this context, what would be the difference in iso verses dvd files, what would be the advantage, drawback in one or other, and what would make you decide which to use?

For myself I use Nero6 and ImgBurn. Just starting to get into Photo album and video album burning, so this is a great poll. If I am derailing it I will post a new topic for the above questions.

Anybody know much about Roxio Easy Media Creator 9 ? It came with my Dell. Are there any issues with it that anyone knows of? Are there freeware programs just as good that run in Vista?

ISOs are image files created of cds or dvds. DVD files would look like the files in this picture (I think).

@acr1965 - I dont what burning functions you need, but you can try CDBurnerXP.

Likewise, my regular combo. Nero is been nothing less than superb for me in all these years stretching back to 98SE.

Still like a good freeware, might have a look at imgburn since it seems to have a healthy following. LoL

The Nero 8 Micro (currently available) is an older version and its not by the developer of Nero 7 Lite/Micro.

It uses the .NET Framework. Not much use if you don't have that or wish to install it.

Hi, Isn't Nero8 micro extracted from Nero 8 ultra edition? is it ? and Nero 8 ultra edition is an upgraded version of Nero 7 ultra ? I thought both , 7 and 8 are from nero.com in Germany. How about Nero 7 lite/micro, where does it stand ? There are many different versions/editions of Nero products out here, I am a bit dizzy. I used to use Nero 6, but it seemed to be from a company called Ahead ?

Yes it is extracted from teh full Nero, but I mean it was someone different who packaged Nero 8 Micro. Id wait for the release made by Acheron.

As for your question: the company name was changed from Ahead to Nero AG.

Nero has been golden to me and I'm a diehard fan. Always been great and reliable, and luckily never had any issues with it. :thumb:
