    Your average joe is far more secure using a smartphone and a messaging app capable of making encrypted calls and texts (e.g. Signal), there is nothing secure about the standard cellular network.

    However, as stated, these phones are not using the standard network protocols, which should tell you everything you need to know about how "safe" it is to be making standard calls and texts.
