Yeah, I made adjustments once I was able to get OSS to see Vista. What about using a tool such as EasyBCD to recreate the bootloader in Vista? Would that make OSS recognize Vista? What is "strict" about OSS? What does it look for in Vista?

    Thanks again.

I haven't ever used EasyBCD, so I don't know if it would make things so OSS could find Vista or if it would make it so OSS couldn't find it.

When I say strict, I mean that OSS must be using a very tight set of "rules" for detecting Vista. It can't, for example, just be looking for the existance of the BCD file and the bootmgr file because if it were, it would find Vista every time. And since changing the BCD file causes problems and since OSS can't properly detect brand-name OEM Vista installations (I'm guessing because of "non-OSS-expected" BCD file setups), I assume it is specific to the BCD file. In my opinion, it's a really stupid problem. However, Acronis has not bothered to release an update even though Vista has been out for a long time now.

Hi. I'm a new user and this is my first entry on the forum. I have just completed installing a dual boot XP Home-32/Vista Ultimate-64 system as dual boot. It now works exactly as described at the beginning of the thread, so I can choose the system on booting. In other words it chains from OSS to the Windows boot screen.
I wondered, ref the bootwiz file, if it would be necessary to edit it uniquely for each system? If so, I'll live with the present situation, but if not perhaps I'll have a try at using the super advice given in this thread to correct it. I do have both DD and TI installed.
Your advice would be much appreciated.
