Hi @Adric i have used for several times always clicked on map virtual drive , i 'm going to try it right now I have always tried to select the drive letter on drive up image..in the first screenshot thank you so much
Were you able to map and open the virtual drive? What WinPE you have? Strelec's or any other or a self-made build? Note that WinPEs by default have no working explorer you have to add one manually. Strelec's winpes have Windows Explorer added by default and DS is able to mount and open a virtual drive to explore backup images.
hi i have used Strelec'winpe ,only few software failed in my tests Drive snapnshot and macrium reflect 7 or 8 under STrelec winpe thanks
i'm a novice.sorry for the question. does it have a structure that will save me at startup like other backup applications?or a guide on how to get back when my computer doesn't turn on. does anyone have an idea or knowledge? now using win 11
As much as I love Drive Snapshot, it's probably not going to be what you're looking for. If your computer won't boot, you really need to have made some boot media to be able to restore the image(s).
Anyone tried restoring a Win10 image to an external usb drive and then tried to boot from it? I just got it to work using IFW. I would like to see if DS works also.
Unlike IFW, DS doesn't have a Copy mode. DS won't allow restoring the OS image to a USB drive while Windows is running.
That could be fixed easy but Tom has his reasons I guess. Maybe because of the disk signature collision. DS probably doesn't change the signature when making an image.
Has anyone ever tried to make a bootable UFD using networkbootdiskette.sna as described here? Note: The downloaded version of networkbootdiskette.sna is different to what comes bundled with the installer and is 2 MB smaller. And this comment is a worry.
I made DS boot discs in 2008. They were CDs rather than UFDs. The boot disks are DOS based and won't boot in UEFI systems.
You've been using Drive Snapshot a lot longer than me, Brian. I'll stick with TBLauncher. It works great.
I just tried using Rufus with the .ISO. It was incompatible. I tried using Rufus with the .IMA. A UFD was created which booted in a MBR computer. But after a few lines of text, the screen froze.
Hi Mr.X Yes, I'm aware that snapshot.exe can be added to any bootable media, but I was just curious about the official solution provided on the Drive Snapshot website. And the comment that I highlighted in my previous post doesn't instil much confidence to the user. I've been using TBLauncher for many years as it gets regularly updated with each TeraByte Image for Windows update.
The following TeraByte Knowledge Base explains it. I use method 2. I originally decided on method 2 because of the simplicity of updating files once it's been set up, but either method should work well. Method 2 dot point below. As you can see, I also have Explorer++ included. A file manager comes in handy at times. The menus are created by editing TBLauncher.ini. It's all explained in the link below.
