Well that just sucks!! I feel like a little kid that found his Christmas present up on the top shelf in his parents closet. I can only wait, and be pissed because I can't get to them now.

When i can't get through to a website but it still fine it usually because 1 of servers is temporarily down along the way or they blocked your IP innocently. Going through a annonymous proxy does the trick.

Notice in the flash demo i had Drive Snap folder on D plus all the backups. This wasn't a seperarate drive but the spare partition of the only drive, which isn't the safest way and a bad idea. The sensible safe way is to run Drive Snap or any backup software from another drive and espeically keep the backup images on another drive. If the MBR or drive goes bad you dont lose the spare partition which would take out the backups software and images. I was just showing that way for demo purposes. Also in the scheduled backup i set the backup options but didn't set the filename i should of. Whatever you set in the Backup tab the scheduled backup will set those options for the scheduled backup.

Right, keeping you updated and what i forgot to mention in the log.

Snapshot.exe doesn't get copied to the recovery solution but instead it is located and run from the Drive Snap folder.

The password on the restore can be optionally omitted so the restore can be fully automated.

The type of restore can be set different and independant for each recovery. eg. The CD recovery could be set to restore a standard image whereas the USB recovery could be set to restore a standard image plus the MBR.

It also works good from external drives too.

    and Cheers

In true politician fashion, that idea seems to have been side stepped.

    Well deserved.

Whatever it is that you ultimately decide to do with your newest DriveSnap pls pass it along and if you are entertaining the idea of making it a sales item for your compensation, lay out what we need to do to add this really useful product to our Beloved DS. Can't take anymore expiry runs anymore, LoL, it's that good!

    THANKS

Several features i have introduced have not been planned but been ideas from experimenting and eureka moments along the way due to the intense way i work. It's a productive, creative way for me. Instead of putting certain features into later versions, i have integrated into the current version i been working on, which has resulted in a delay but the end result is bigger better Drive Snap at each stage. Due to a deeper involvement, adding more features, benefits and bug testing i have spent and am spending on this project, it is time to pause and see sense.

I have decided to charge for it on the next version, yet at excellent small price to you so i can gain somewhat and you can gain greatly. I can't afford to devote this much time and commitment and continue at the rate i am, without more of a reward. If there is contributions i can continue. It is time to ask for some compensation back, for the time spent on the new version and to justify the time for past, present and future development work. The time pumped into it and benefits of Drive Snap exceeds the little cost back to you.

Drive Snap has become more than just a frontend, largely due to immediately tracking, restoring images providing a truly automatic system recovery for images stored on any drive internal or external and so is unique. The new version is special more so which is now further enhanced providing a recovery solution for other devices with ease, and yet taking into consideration Drive Snap still needs Drive Snapshot to begin with, it will be fixed at a very fair and soft addon price of £8. This will entitle you to the new version(plus old version) and updates with priority technical support which both will be completely devoid of any own internal or external wrapper software protection making it even faster and lighter. This will once and for all sort out any confusion and not delay any new future update. I'm sure you understand.

I managed to retrieve the source code for a version of the old Drive Snap, so i can compile that and will be available shortly. It will have a trail of 3 months like the new version. If you pay the new version cost, you will get the old version, protection free and sent the new version protection free when available.

Thank You for your interest and also the positive comments from all.

    Update details.

Not content with restoring the type of image restore of the same image from each device it will possible to recover anytime different images from each device CD, USB or HDD and keep track. You can see at a glance which images you have set, to restore from CD, USB and HDD. More powerful, practical recovery +10!

I squished an annoying bug. If you experienced the previous Drive Snap you might of been aware when you right clicked and selected 'Create Automatic Recovery CD' the ISO would on occasion not be created(well it was BETA after all). This was because you meant to select an image by left clicking on it first to confirm selection. This wasn't apparent. The natural tendency to get the context menu for speed was to immediately right click on an image which would result in not being selected. It now possible to immediately right click on an image without left clicking to confirm image selection.

I don't think the drop down list of the same commands as the right click context menu was ever used. the context menu is a simpler natural way to access so i have removed it and filled it with something better.

Usually if you want to restore a differential image manually you first have to restore the full image then restore the differential after. This means typing out another command line and editing the batch file which can be time consuming, messy to perfect or alien if you not a DOS hand. Drive Snap to the rescue. If you select a differential image for the restore it will restore the full image and restore the differential straight after with the same name in one action. Another reason to not change the default differential name. A very useful feature to restore differentials. The restore time of the differential is very quick as it much smaller file size compared to the full image.

Same goes for me. Which I guess is kind of weird because I've never tried Drive Snap. But, oh well.

I'm not sure what you mean ;i own the latest registered DS, if i get a registered DriveSnap ,i would then get the "old" DS version? previously DriveSnap worked with the "resident" DS
I am by no means an expert but yesterday i did a diff restore from VistaPe , unless i am mistaken , i selected the diff file an ds did the rest ,restoring main image and the diff image.
Anyway ,glad to hear the project is still alive ! I will pay also of course.
    Cheers,Lin

    Same here markymoo

Post up when it's ready and where to go friend. This is a REAL milestone indeed! You put a lot of effort into this and deserve some reasonable compensation to finally complete DS as a True Top Contender!
