Using Paragon Drive Backup Professional 9.0 to hot backup Windows 7 x64.
Trying to perform "hot backup" on drive that is booted. Running from CD.

Keep getting message just before backup begins stating "windows needs to
reboot before proceeding". There is a button to reboot but nothing happens
when i click it. If I manually restart nothing happens other than a normal
    reboot.

Appreciate any help you can provide.

First of all, it will be better to upgrade to the latest version of Drive Backup or Hard Disk Manager. New version include fixes and improvements which can solve the issue you have.

As far as i understand, you booted from WinPE Paragon CD to make backup and it requests restart. it means that something locks the partition you want to backup.

    Please try the following:
Run Full Scale launcher and go to Tools - Settings
Find HotProcessing options and enable checkbox "Use Hot Processing when partition is locked" .

Then try to run backup again.

Also , please check how does your source partition \drive is shown in the program.
It maybe shown as unformatted or invalid due to geometry errors.
