yep, all that time on gate and it was discontinued. o_O

but they do have another one, i was expecting it to be ready for 4.44, but maybe im asking too much.

also, with the HIPS, this would help your (our) detection issues Blackcat, we both know how kasperskys sales have increased since the introduction of PDM.

Personally, I have no problems with the present detection rates of the product; I have never been infected in 4 years of use. My main gripe is that their falling detection rates in av-comparatives compared to other products is given the impression of a failing product. Overall, it is not very good marketing for them.

But better heuristics and possible HIPS protection in DW would be a good idea.

However, I doubt very much that the PDM feature in KAV/KIS has contributed much to their increased sales figures. IMO, this would be the same with DW.

Better marketing and an increase in OEM sales are much more important. Boxed Kaspersky products, as you know, are now sitting next to the Red and Yellow Boxed AVs on the PC World shelves in the UK now and their advertisements feature prominently in PC magazines.

well, i always look forward to the future ;)

    trust me, i know

im sure the drweb staff know what they need to do, and im sure they will get to their goals. :)

that, is not my concern, my concern is 'when?'

i dont ever think drweb will be high in the marketing part.

thanks chris and good luck .
i have one simple question .
I downloaded "cure it" and it scanned my pc in 40 minutes . It scanned almost 110,000 files . currently i am using avast . when i do a through scan it scans almost 530,000 files and takes almost 100 minutes. why is this huge difference in number of scanned files ? thanks .

Every AV has a different way of counting files, just as they all have a different way of counting signatures. Just because AVAST scans more files does not mean that everything was not scanned with CureIt, just that they they have a different way of counting files; perhpas they count all archived fukes whereas CureIt counts them all as one. That is just an idea, but you see my point. "risl" is correct is CureIt does not have a license file, but this is just something else to thik about.

    so, straight to the point,

the encrypted quarentine and http scanner will arrive 'before' v5, but when?

when you mention control center, do you mean a different one, maybe the new GUI will be released before v5 too?

the updater DOES run automatically on vista.

the rule is automatically created in the vista 'task scheduler' for 30 minute intervals, if your 4.44 is installed correctly, the update schedule is working.

    -------------

regarding another issue, after a promising September regarding signature updates, October has been Poor.
i think that the quick adding of some of IBK's samples, has led them to believe they can slow down, instead of keeping up this pace.

ive sent in quite a few samples in the past 2 days,

all have been corrected and fixed.

    vms@drweb.com

The service has certainly improved, ive had probably 100 files in the past not added/fixed, they just seem to have got lost, but all the ones these past few days, have been added.

nice to see the improvement :thumb:
