    i guess this shows that there is no morality in capitalism only winners and losers.
    evolution at it's finest - survival of the fittest (and craftiest)

    a salutary tale that if one downloads "free" software they may be getting more than they bargained for.

    Quoting from that article about Claria's next product: "PersonalWeb reflects the key lesson the company has learned since then: While everyone hates pop-ups, nobody much minds behind-the-scenes spying. In fact, surreptitious tracking is all the rage."

    I can't say this statement is Wired at its most profound (the ruckus over the Sony rootkit should have made that clear) but there is clearly an ongoing need to educate people about the dangers of the Internet - and this sort of adware is one of them.
