    dog powered scooter
    http://www.dogpoweredscooter.com/

    We spend a lot of time ballyhooing the growth of alternative energy. From wind to sun to biofuels, we love it all; just yesterday we had not one, but two posts about creating your own electromagnetic energy. So we're pleased as punch to announce an all-new entrant into the wonderful world of alternative, renewable fuels: dog power. That's right, thanks to "The Original Dog Powered Scooter," the power of our canine friends can now be harnessed to help us get around. Based on the premise that you and your dog are both going to the same place, the scooter/harness combination reinvents any previous attempts to harness the power of man's best friend by having the dog push rather than pull (on a leash, sled, etc.). This puts the steering and braking control in the hands of the rider, making it much safer for crowded urban sidewalks and bike paths. The outrigger keeps the slobbering powerplant in one place, and its location on the right side of the scooter keeps your engine-with-a-tail away from traffic, automobile or otherwise. The scooter is customizable for one to three dogs, which brings to mind a new sport sure to sweep the world: urban dog mushing.

    'twas the Night Before Christmas

    It was about time for Christmas, and all through the house
    A creature was stirring, but it wasn't a mouse
    I knew right away it was my wife's little pup,
    She thought we were sleeping, and so she was up

    The dog was a gift it was coercion, really,
    A woman can pout, 'til a man gets downright silly.
    And now the wife was snoozing she was really sacked out
    She wouldn't have awoke from less than a shout.

    Yes, her in her nightgown, I in my BVDs,
    We had finally settled down to catch some Zs
    When off in the kitchen there arose such a clatter,
    I rolled from the bed to see what was the matter.

    Away down the hall, my head in a muddle,
    I reached the kitchen...and stepped in a puddle.
    The glow from a nightlight illuminated the room,
    So how come I stumbled over the broom?

    I fell in a sprawl, my legs were not stable.
    On the way down, my nose hit the table.
    My head was a spinnin' and when I came to rest
    Four miniature dog feet stood on my chest.

    With a lick and a bark, she bounded away,
    Into the living room, she ran to play.
    More rapid than mouses, that rat terrier ran,
    Me on the follow, rolled newspaper in hand.

    "Stop, Skeeter! Stop, Dog! Stop, Pup!
    Halt, Pooch! Halt, Girl! Oh, come'ere, you mutt!
    "Get off the new couch! Now let go of that curtain!
    Ohhh...If I ever catch you, you're gonna' be hurtin'"

    As winds of a Texas tornado do fly,
    She spun round the room, down low and up high.
    Then up on the countertop, that puppy went
    She stopped for a second. I thought she was spent.

    I make a quick lunge, she ducked me and then
    Yawned when I dove through the flour bin.
    As I drew out my head and was turning around,
    She made for the presents, in a single bound.

    I was covered with flour, from my head to my toes,
    My robe in tatters, and blood on my nose.
    A bag full of toys, she grabbed with glee
    I nabbed her, I thought, but instead got the tree.

    The ornaments, they broke, as they began to fall
    The lights, how they fizzled, and that is not all.
    When I reached for the plug, to turn the bulbs out,
    What flowed through my body, but electricity, so stout!

    As smoke encircled my head like a wreath,
    That dog held my big toe, tight in her teeth.
    "Skeeter," I moaned, "I give up. Oh, Skeet, I give in."
    So she bit my swollen nose, and nipped at my chin.

    She spoke not a word, but went back to work,
    Down came the stockings it took just a jerk.
    Then up from the hall, came the sound of feet,
    Momma, it seemed was awake from her sleep.

    "Now you'll get it pup," I announced with glee.
    Then Skeeter walked over and put her little head on my knee.
    She looked up at my wife - so innocent - and at me, so, so sad.
    And it didn't take long, to know I'd been had.

    Then came the wife's voice, so strong and so clear,
    "Bill, you leave that puppy alone! You hear!"
    And I exclaimed to myself, as they walked out with a strut,
    "Don't leave any gifts, Santa just PICK UP THE MUTT!"

    Singapore scientists embrace plan for cyberhugs

    SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Singapore scientists looking for ways to transmit the sense of touch over the Internet have devised a vibration jacket for chickens and are thinking about electronic children's pyjamas for cyberspace hugs.

    A wireless jacket for chickens or other pets can be controlled with a computer and gives the animal the feeling of being touched by its owner, researchers at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) told Monday's edition of The Straits Times.

    The next step would be to use the same concept to transmit hugs over the Internet, it said.

    "These days, parents go on a lot of business trips, but with children, hugging and touching are very important," the paper quoted NTU Associate Professor Adrian David Cheok as saying.

    NTU is thinking of a pyjama suit for children, which would use the Internet to adjust changes in pressure and temperature to simulate the feeling of being hugged. Parents wearing a similar suit could be "hugged" back by their children, the paper said.

    Dachshund through the snow
    In a one-dog open sleigh,
    Forget about the shovel,
    I want to see Santa today;
    Bells on bob-tail ring,
    Making spirits bright,
    What fun it is to ride and sing
    A sleighing song tonight.

    2. A day or two ago,
    Cochise went on a ride,
    And soon Nurse Edna dear
    Was seated by his side;
    The horse was lean and lank;
    Misfortune seemed his lot;
    His browser hit a drifted bank,
    Then he posted quit alot .

    3. A day or two ago,
    The story I must tell
    Ed went out on the snow
    And on his bum he fell;
    A Cat was riding by
    In a one-Buck open sleigh,
    He puckered as there sprawling lie,
    And blew the snow away.

    4. Now the ground is yellow
    Go it while you're young,
    Hugs the girls young fellow
    And sing this sleighing song;
    Just get a bob-tailed dog
    Two-forty as his speed
    Push him in an open sleigh
    But first make sure he peed.

    Chorus:
    Tinkle bells, Tinkle bells,
    Tinkle all the way!
    O what fun it is to ride
    In the Wilders open sleigh.

    :D
