eScan does have hourly updates, but its updates are, like 3 hours behind Kaspersky. :)

Yes - eScan is built on the KAV engine. :)

We had this discussion on the KL forums, and ascertained that (a) eScan does use the KAV engine, and (b) because it uses the same engine, the database will be the same as that of KAV. However, altho eScan updates hourly, it appears the updates are a few hours behind that of official KL updates.

eScan updates from MicroWorld's own servers and not from Kaspersky Labs' servers, due to which it remains about 2-3 hours behind KAV for updates. There are times when it is only one hour behind KAV, but usually it is 2-3 hours. :)
