wont let me edit the above to add..........

ok, i have a collection of what i believe is malware, obviously 'some of it' is, as avira picks up on some, kaspersky others etc etc

its not much but certain avs aint picking it up, including dr.web

but, although the ON-DEMAND isnt finding it, the real-time protection of dr.web IS picking up THREE infections, all by heuristics 'possibly infected with....'

so why does the on-demand say clean, while the real-time finds it?
is it a bug in the beta, should i report it?

i hate reporting things, they want ini files and scan logs and actual files which to be honest, i like helping but just cant be a$$ed with doing all that. o_O

The samples missed by the on-demand scanner are inside a archive? Are they runtime packed stuff?

yes they were inside an archive,

and when i un-rar the file, realtime picked up 3 threats, which i ignored as i was testing it.

then on-demand scan of those files, found zero threats, i dont get it. o_O

Well, perhaps Dr. Web is using emulation which works better in real time. You´ll have to submit those samples :p

You think they are heuristic detections ("possibly infected with...."), have you checked that the heuristic is turned on for the main scanner, as well as the realtime Spider Guard?

yes checked that, trying to sort it out with dr.web

3 detected with realtime, zero with ondemand and still quite a few missed overall, trying to help dr.web sort it, so its all good  :D
