I don't have it installed on my system anymore but I run it under Wondershare Time Freeze about once every month. Bo
That's good to hear, we can all definitely use more good security products but I'm definitely full up security wise
I obtained a license for free a long time back through some promos (can't remember which) but I 'wasted' it by accidentally activating it on my machine when I had no intention of using the license at the time. I actually wanted to give the license to a relative but I didn't bother to contact the dev about it (perhaps I should have). Nevertheless, I did once in a while use the free on-demand scanner without activating the trial (as I haven't found any need to do so). I must say I liked HMP scanning speed and despite the occasional minor false-positive, it remains as a useful 2nd-opinion scanner that stands unique in the competitive AV industry.
Yes. I use it portable to scan. It never finds anything malicious, just a bunch of stuff that's legit. It even flags itself, lol. I thought this would only be the case with EWS enabled, but it does it with the basic scan too. I don't agree with this. Only advanced users should use it or they'll shoot dead a bunch of perfectly legit files.
Scan for free. I wish they would go the way of EAM, and allow free scanning and removal, and paid for realtime protection (assuming they give it realtime protection later).
I'm seriously considering HMP, however since I'm not a techie, just a home computer user I'm a little afraid of deleting a needed file by mistake. Looking at the screen shots I can't tell if there's any way to avoid screwing things up, or is it really for "advanced users"?
Yes, I use it to scan for free and if it finds any suspect files I upload to Virus Total and do a deep scan with NOD32, MBAM and SAS. If I thought anything that was found could be dangerous and couldn't be cleaned using any of those I would probably try to clean it with EEK first and then maybe activate the trial of HitmanPro and then buy the product but so far I haven't had any reason to do so.
Yes I use it. And thanks to Djigi I found a way to get it to scan files automatically at download. So I know they're safe before recovering them from my sandbox. If you want to find out how check out the "what is your security setup..." thread in the other malware forum.
I use it only "to scan for free". The scanner seems to be powerful but occasionally shows "false positives". The best of HitmanPro IMO: it's portable and small in size.
