I don't buy and will never buy tablet until two things will happen 1) open source operating system and 2) a real trackpoint support. I had 2 tablets over the years and I got bored with both of them (Android and iPad), I eventually gave them away to my family (who were thrilled with their gifts).
Amazon Kindle Fire HD. Purposes: music, videos, some games, pdf reading. All this while on the plane. I do not use it for browsing, downloading, etc.
No and probably never will. About the only useful purpose for a tablet is for reading ebooks. As I see it, just about anything else that a tablet can do can be accomplished just as well with a smart phone. Of course you could also use a tablet as a smart phone it you don't mind it's size and bulk! TS
I do but just an old Thinkpad convertible with a keyboard and stylus and I just use that for reading magazines. I have a Sony ebook reader for text only documents as well. I might get an android tablet someday but it is not a high priority. I had an android phone for a while but downgraded to a simpler phone. I found the screen size too small for my taste. I wouldn't have a problem with android in tablet size. I'm allergic to any products Apple puts out so I would never consider an iPad. The main reason for having a tablet is the vertical orientation which is great for reading document scans but for most purposes, I much prefer a laptop.
Using a NextBook 8 HD, was using a Google Nexus7 untill it dropped to the floor and the screen shattered in a million pieces.
Don't use one yet, but I can see myself moving in that direction at some point in the future, as my computing needs decrease...
Yes, a Nexus 7 2013, which for me is the perfect size and weight. It's easier to read than a 10" tablet because you can hold it at the right distance easily with one hand. I also have a Motorola Xoom LTE 10" tablet. At the time I bought the Xoom it was OK as we did not have smart phones yet and it worked well for trips. Now that we have smart phones I find it kind of unnecessary. Considering its size and weight I would prefer a laptop to it any day. Also allergic to Apple products and software.
I use a cheap no-name Android tablet as an e-reader and Internet radio because I don't have/need/want a smartphone
Sorry I missed. But since members are participating in this poll and moderators are not closing I think it would be fine. Besides I got a few more options in the poll.
It appears so. Well, I have a phablet and don't really need a tablet, so I'm not sure about considering one in the future in case something changes.
I have an Eken GT80X, a budget Chinese 8" Android tablet (which suffers from performance issues at times) and also a Sanei N79 7" tablet with 3G support which is faster. I also purchased a Ainol Novo Venus tablet, but due to touchscreen problems have to send it back to supplier in China to get a replacement. They are all budget tablets and I will end up keeping one and selling the other two. Right now, I don't see the point in buying an expensive brand name tablet due to how little I use them. However, if I was going to buy a well known brand name Android tablet, it would probably be a Lenovo Thinkpad.
I have an ASUS MeMOPad HD 7-Inch 16 GB Tablet (ME173X-A1-BL). I purchased this tablet for occassional tethering to my SmartPhone.
I already have an expensive smart phone gaming machine. Why would I want a bigger one? My choice is it was an option would be: No - not now but I might consider one in the future
My uncle gave me his iPad Mini after getting the new Retina version. So far I'm liking it... Using it over my phablet on same tasks actually, except on the go.
