I let people use the computer (household shared computer), and friends/family, full admin rights, just as I use. They all know to give me a shout and wait if they see suspicious links and not to open email attachments. For young cousins I do not trust as much, I run the IM application and browser sandboxed and change Kaspersky's settings to block all unknown applications.
Sometimes, friends come to my house and ask to use my laptop. It's ok as long as I'm near. As for family, everybody has their own laptop here.
When "smart" enough not to click "YES!, THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME THIS OFFER/CHANCE TO BE POSITIVE!" to every popup they see then they can use my pc. 2 people do that on a regular basis. Never had a problem.
I image my HDs regularly & password protect my "private files" -- ergo, there is only .000001% risk of letting someone use my computer. (I hope )
Yes, my wife and dog, but neither of them know how to logon, so that is down to me as expert unchallenged.
My lovely family have there own laptops, but is always seems, that for some reason, my wife and son have to just use my Laptop.
My windows Machine and my Mac i use most 60% of the time, But my Soon to be wife (Only got 14 Weeks of freedom left ) She only really use the pc and is alot better at not trashing it now lol My mac shivers when she walks past it lol
Family has a machine that I use too. Then there is another one just for ME. Most business is done on mine. I do not go any where other than known trusted sites on mine. Who knows about the kids and their games or what might lurk there. The Acer is mine.
Not including my wife, who is 100% certified to abuse all the machines, I do let some people use some of my computers, depending what they want, need or try to do. But in general, few people other than myself and close family come in contact with my computing assets. Mrk
I don't willingly let others....to be honest. I find it intrusive However, I have to let my family use my personal laptop sometimes. Therefore, I took the secured default-deny setup approach so that they cannot install anything on it. I'm the administrator and only me can configure/destroy it As for data, I'm rather irresponsible right now. No password protection whatsoever but I've got nothing to hide (or mostly nothing) Let's see how things go...
