Yep, I have the same problem. A bit annoying but I have learned to live with it.

I agree it's annoying as I'm forced to use my unreliable ISP email server rather than my paid for Email service which uses authorisation.

However, when TDS3 was first out & that part was installed there wasn't the spam problem we have now or the level of email at all.

I don't fault TDS for this one as TDS complies with the email sending specs as defined by the WWW controlling bodies. It's the email providers who have broken the specs by building in security systems that weren't thought of or needed when the specs were introduced

Getting back to the original post, the one thing I would suggest that could be improved is web-filtering. Zone Alarm offers some control here with its Mobile Code settings but a specialist web filter like Proxomitron can do far more and make web browsing more of a pleasure. Proxomitron can also filter HTTPS traffic (see The dangers of HTTPS for more on this) which would not be handled by ZA's Mobile Code settings or any other filter.

Proxomitron does take some learning though - the program itself is simple enough but modifying or writing filters requires knowlege of HTML and Proxomitron's own filter language.

If you are looking specifically for DCS software to try, then Process Guard should be the first choice. It will add process protection to your setup which is currently not covered and is fairly simple to learn. There are some outstanding issues (e.g. excess Secure Message Handling prompts) but these are minor.

Port Explorer is useful if you want to look closely at what programs are doing online but is more of a diagnostic than security tool. TDS-3/WG may cover threats that NOD32/Ewido miss but this is unlikely unless your Internet habits are high risk.

    All

Well, I've gone and done it!
Have bought TDS, PG, PE and Wormguard!!

Just a question...I am getting a very frequent pop-up from ProcessGuard Alert saying, 'Portexplorer.exe was blocked from accessing physical memory', is this normal?

    Congrats Frank !!!
And welcome to the DCS family !!! :D

Be sure that you register at the private DCS forum; lots of info there ;)
And don't forget to check the sticky threads for those programs here at the public board at Wilders ;)
    Take your time please ;)

I have to leave that question to the ProcessGuard gurus ;)

    Cheers, Jan.
