Dizzying Intel chip choices

    they are also saying that that clock cycles aren't so important now, it's how much power there is in each cycle. i heard the most imporant thing about a chip is how much L2 caching it has, 512 is good

    The L2 cache is dependent on the application, but nevertheless most everyday apps should gain healthy boosts with a larger L2 cache. 512KB is good, 1MB is even better ;)

    Even AMD's choices were confusing a while back, with Athlon 64 range on Socket 754, 939 as well as 940 :eek:

    Sempron on Socket 754 and Socket A.......AMD Athlon XP Socket A :eek:

    Ah great, now Intel is going to do it.. I always have to look up AMD processors as it is, now I'll really have to do some reading up.
