    Hi,folks: This is going to rock the boat! Diskeeper pro 2007 v.11 claims it can defrag your HD in real time, and eliminate fragmentation as it occurs. Its breakthru tech so called " invisiTasking " can perform that task w/o any scheduling. Cool! I am going to take a good look at it. Cheers.:)

    Sounds very much like the pro-active defragmentation that mstDefrag has had this for a long time.

    The current version 1.9 does not have an Options dialog which is quite a big no-no for some people, instead being configured by manualling adding registry items. It also does not currently have shceduling or boot-time defrag (althnough I have seen this working in a beta released) However, a new version 2.0 is due to be released before the end of this year which should add these.

    The invisiTasking "technology" sounds very much like IOGuard in mstDefrag.

    Real-time defrag works well with mst defrag with the following reservation. While defragging only executes when cpu is under-utilised, it does not monitor disk access utilisation. I have often found that it will kick into action and slow my whole computer down because my HDD is already being monopolised by another process (using few cpu cycles), and MST tries to compete for disk services. I found this especially when downloading large files.

    i have a license for diskeeper 10 pro and when i installed the trial version it asked to keep my settings from the last version but it asked for a key code during the install which odvisically I dont have. tonight im gonna email them the info which i got when ordering diskeeper 10 pro as evidence, then ask them if its a free upgrade and if so can they sent me a key code. secoud time lucky. the last email that came back said read the faq's IMO.
    hopefully this time they will tell me if the upgrade is free or not and hope it is and get s keycode to put in to the trial =}

    This problem only occurs if the file size and/or modified date does not change during the download (ie. a file the size of the file to download is pre-created).

    If the file size and/or date changes, there are settings to configure the time delay before a file is defragged.

    I am currently trailling DK11 Pro and its seems great. No problems like I have had with MST defrag.

    Ive always liked MST defrag but it suffers from a couple of bugs, firstly it overly tries to defrag files that are constantly modified and also very stumbles on large files.

    DK has always been better at pausing/stopping defragging when system resources are needed again.

    Cant wait for the 2.0 version.

    As long as the file size or modified date changes during these modifications, then it's possible to configure the time delay from when a file was last modified to when mstDefrag attempts to pro-actively defrag it.

    I agree with that. I haven't tried the new version, but DS 10 was very good. When i first instaled and made a few defrags i've noticed a big difference in the performance, the PC was faster and the hard disk was working smooth (before that i've had delay in the response).

    Does anyone know is DS 2007 working with FirstDefense-ISR and does it make conflict or modife the MBR. I know that in DS 10 was option to exclude the $ISR but the Hard Disk was still defraged a lot and doesn't gained performance.
