I think I can find some other defragger that will do the job without the big price. I don't need all the bells and whistles.

Thanks, I'll keep this in mind to try it out. I'm still trialing the "mst Defrag" right now. :)

I use Diskeeper 9.0 Professional with my Windows XP system. I started using it 5-6 years ago with Windows 98, then Windows 2000 and now Win XP. Currently I have it set up with the "Set it and forget it" option which keeps my HDD nicely defragmented. I've managed to turn on several of my friends to Diskeeper over the years after seeing how well it has worked with my system.

Are you using Win XP Home or Pro edition? Diskeeper offers a Home edition usable with XP Home (don't remember if it does Pro or not) that costs less than Diskeeper Professional. There are a few options that are different on the two versions (don't remember now what they were but I think they're more oriented to workstation environments) which caused me to go with the Pro version for Diskeeper 9.0 but prior to that I'd used Diskeeper Home since Windows XP was released. I've always been pleased with either version. Both are fast and thorough and have never given me any problems. If you don't mind having to remember to run the program regularly, Diskeeper Lite is also an option.

:) I use the free Diskeeper Lite version 7 for several months and it works fine and no problem for me and its more better than the built-in windows defragmenter. I'm just wonderin if they can also upgrade it. :D

used diskeeper for many versions, but now ive switched to perfectdisk. a few things i miss, however, is that diskeeper had many options to customize, a background defragger, and an option to change the MFT size.
