No I did not try to use the "save the incrementals and disable protection" before updating that particular FD-ISR snapshot. I suspect that the boot screen and the ability to save changes permanently are closely associated. I have the help and in Disk Write Copy protection and pre-boot management:

Pressing "F1" will invoke short help on Disk Write Copy configuration.
Pressing "F10" will save the changes you made to Disk Write Copy configuration and continue OS loading
Pressing "ESC" will cancel the changes you made to Disk Write Copy configuration and continue OS loading
Pressing "1" will disable protection for all your disks for this OS startup (after restarting or shutting down the computer, the protection on all disks will be enabled again).

It is not clear to me though but I think you have to press F4 at the initial DWCpro boot screen to get those choices and then F10?? When I install it again I'll give "save permanently" a try. Maybe someone has already figured it out.

I tried those in different combinations and couldn't tell what they did.

That's the problem with this application, it doesn't speak for itself and you don't know what you are doing, but some users like it complicated.
Besides that : bad GUI, bad manual, unfinished (TODO TODO TODO), empty forum, high price and God only knows what next. :)

    Further update.

Since it doesn't protect mbr/partition table I asked about that. It is on the to do list.

I also asked how to use the incremental save. Apparently it wasn't in the version we could download, as they pulled it do to a serious bug. It's being fixed.

So we shall see. This product is very interesting to me.

    Hi Basil

What is the status of the program in terms of the ability to leave the "shadowing" mode and have changes kept.

If it is working, why weren't people who signed up for beta testing notified, and given the opportunity to test?

    Pete

    Hi Pete!

I am glad to answer your questions.

This feature will be available in the next release of Disk Write Copy line 2.x

Tomorrow will be updated page of downloading distributions at our official Web site.

Appears in public access final version of the software Disk Write Copy line 1.x

This distribution contains many important fixes. In particular, to the point where the user Farmerlee received a BSOD.

Tomorrow you'll be able to download new software distribution and test it on versions of Windows x32,x64,ia64 (2000, XP, Vista and server versions). You can connect usb-flash media and test the protection for them.

Pete, we are mindful of your desire to become a beta tester. We are mindful of the settings that you were interested. You sure will be invited to test the software Disk Write Copy line 2.x and it will be soon.

    P.S.:
Please do not hesitate to ask if you have more questions.

    Hi Bazile,

I am very curious about your licensing/pricing method.

Your company sells your products at the prices:
    Disk Write Copy Personal: 29.95$/29.95€
    Disk Write Copy Professional: 89.95$/89.95€
    Disk Write Copy Server: 199.95$/199.95€

This means that the Europian clients will have to pay:
    Disk Write Copy Personal: 44.14$ + taxes 19% = 52.51$ :ouch:
    Disk Write Copy Professional: 132.56$ + taxes 19% = 157.74$ :ouch:
    Disk Write Copy Server: 294,67$ + taxes 19% = 350.65$ :ouch:

Why should any europian, in his right mind, buy your products?

    Hi Pandlouk!

Yes, indeed, the price varies. However, a European can pay in dollars, too, if wants. No one prevents it from doing so.

Our price for the software formed when the U.S. dollar and Euro were approximately similar.

In addition, the USA, Europe, Russia and Venezuela are not the same price and on other products. For example petrol or bread.

In any case, this is not discrimination:)

Our company belongs to the same loyal users worldwide.
That is why every buyer has the opportunity to choose the form of payment as they wish.

I did not understand the argument about taxes. How and where are they?

    Thanks for replying.

Well the problem is that in most payment sites do not allow you to choose; when you sellect as a region a country from E.U. they automatically change the currency in euros. And in that case it will mean that the user will have to pay 29.95€ instead of 20.33€ (price converted from the 29.95$).
    Fair enough.
I agree on that but the difference in the prices are mostly because of the Value added tax (VAT), that each country apply at the final price of the products.
As I said above in E.U. there is Value added tax (VAT) which is applied on the price of a product. This Tax varies from 15% to 21% from country to country but in most is 19%.
Unless a company makes clear that VAT is included in the final price, the customer will have to pay an additional 19%.
For example Drive Snapshot says clearly that
If they didn't include VAT in the final price the customer would have to pay 46,41€ instead of 39€.

    Panagiotis

ps. Here you can find about VAT and why the products cost much higher in E.U. than in other countries.

Thank you very much for your questions!

Our partner Element5 (For example Disk Write Copy Personal) allows you to choose the form of payment, regardless of region.

But VAT is now being discussed by our management.

    You are welcome. :)

I checked that site and it automatically gave me the price in euro.
    "Subtotal: EUR 29.95
    plus 19% sales tax/VAT: EUR 5.69
    Total amount: EUR 35.64".
After changing it in USD it was
    "Subtotal: USD 29.95
    plus 19% sales tax/VAT: USD 5.69
    Total amount: USD 35.64".

But EUR 35.64 = USD 52.22 and most if not all europian clients will not try to change it in dollars.(they'll just leave the site frustrated :p )
I would suggest that you change the price in dollars only and let the site perform the automatic currency convertion.

I understand what you are about.
Nothing will change until Disk Write Copy 2.x is released.
What's more important - you are aware that you can purchase the product right now for USD and it's going to be good deal.
