    Hello everyone,

I have serious trouble with Acronis Disc Director 10 build 2077.
    I did the following:

-Partitioned my brand new maxtor 250 GB drive.
    -Installed OS Selector
    -Installed WinXP SP2

Everything works fine up to this point.
If I now try to reactivate the OS Selector with the boot CD, I get a lot of "Failed To Write To The Sector XY of Hard Disk 1".

    I cannot boot anymore.
The only way to get my system back working is taking Maxblast4 Boot Cd and clearing the first 62 sectors of my new hard drive.
Then I have to reinstall Win again.

    Please help.
Disc Director in this state is useless to me.

    Thanks,

    Heiko

Thanks. I solved the problem by updating my bios.

By the way: Do primary partitions have to be the first on a hard drive?
Because when I had the following order:

    1. Primary Active NTFS
    2. Logical NTFS
    3. Logical NTFS
    4. Primary NTFS
    5. Logical NTFS
    6: Logical FAT32
    7: Primary ReiserFS
    8: Logical Swap
    9: Logical ReiserFS
    ...

and I tried to install a second copy of WinXP SP2 on partition 3 (set to active with Disc Director before installing), the installation abortet with an lsass.exe error.

I then changed the partition order to the following and the second copy of XP installied fine:

    1. Primary Active NTFS
    2. Primary NTFS
    3: Primary ReiserFS
    4. Logical NTFS
    5. Logical NTFS
    6. Logical NTFS
    7: Logical FAT32
    8: Logical Swap
    9: Logical ReiserFS
    ...

    Is my assumption correct?

    Thanks,

    Heiko

    Hello Heiko,

Please be aware that it is recommended that primary partitions go first on a hard drive. Another order of partitions can cause some issues especially in cases when you try to install several Windows operating systems.

    Thank you.
