What, if any, overlap is there between DEP and UAC? I have my browser in protected mode and DEP enabled for all programs except a select few. What extra benefit does UAC give me?

I would rather disable UAC and just keep DEP and IE7 in protected mode. What would be the risks of doing this? I also have KIS7 and Spyware Blaster installed.

DEP aims at blocking buffer overflows, whereas UAC makes programs run with lowered privileges and prompts the user for certain actions.

Also I dont think Protected Mode works if you disable UAC.

    Hello,

Indeed, disabling UAC disables IE Protected Mode. DEP and UAC are different things while complementary. There is no overlap.
