Expert may leave no doubt that evidence was not fabricated by deepfake technology.

Experts have no effect on people that are not convinced by facts. I'm not trying to be difficult here, but if experts giving facts solved problems than there would be no arguments about... well... anything. Think of any controversial subject that I can't name here without getting this post deleted. Exactly. :D

I used to worry that deepfakes represented a serious threat, but now they seem almost irrelevant since so many people are willing to believe utter fictions without the slightest evidence. Still, it's important to have the technology to detect faked videos.

"FBI alert warns of Russian, Chinese use of deepfake content...

The FBI warned in an alert Wednesday that malicious actors 'almost certainly' will be using deepfakes to advance their influence or cyber-operations in the coming weeks...

'Foreign actors are currently using synthetic content in their influence campaigns, and the FBI anticipates it will be increasingly used by foreign and criminal cyber actors for spearphishing and social engineering in an evolution of cyber operational tradecraft,' states the alert..."

"Intel Reveals 'World's First' Real-Time Deepfake Detector

FakeCatcher is said to have a 96% accuracy rate. It works by analyzing blood flow from video pixels...

Its method is based on PPG, a method used to measure the amount of light that is either absorbed or reflected by blood vessels in living tissue. When our hearts pump blood, veins change in color and these signals are picked up by the technology to establish whether a video is fake or not..."

It's amazing what they come up with. I wonder how long it will take the fakers to make a better fake with this knowledge.
