Dear Apple and Samsung, $1,000 is way too much for a smartphone, consumers say

    $1,000 is too much so they respond with a $2,000 phone. If they reduced the price by 75% it would still be $500. Still more than it is worth to me. Especially from a company that only gives 2 years worth of updates. You should not have to finance and insure a phone.

    It seems that before buying Premium & High End smartphones you should consider its expected value depreciation/price-retention over time, just as it is commonly done with cars. With that in mind I kind of better understand why iPhones are so popular in US. Unfortunately second-hand smartphone market in my country is in infancy

    For some people the camera can be worth $200 to $500. In no way can it truly replace a DSLR camera but they get better and better every year, but noticeably every two years really.
