Does anyone know if any of the free products (iCare in particular) can recover data that's been written over? I made the dumb mistake of wiping my free space with CCleaner (Simple Overwrite, 1 Pass).

 

It's pretty much game over from a home user perspective once the data has been overwritten sorry to say.Supposedly government agencies/law enforcement can recover data in this scenario,but even that's open to debate.

Thanks andyman35. I know iCare recommends that you don't overwrite, I thought there might still be a way though, but probably not. Oh well, live and learn.

 

It's a tough lesson to learn,having lost important data in the past I know only too well.
