1st of all, thanks to the helpful members of this forum site. I appreciate everything you'all do to help newcomers and learners.

I need help solving this problem for a friend, who wrote:
"I have Trend Micro as an anti-virus protection and ever since I did a system restore on my laptop a few months ago the virus protection has updates almost every day. I may be over reacting but is this normal?"

Please tell me if there seems to be a virus or anything harmful going on with that person's computer. I don't use Trend Micro, but my friend has been using it for a for at least a year now.

Every anti-virus should update at least once every day.

There are security products that update 100 times more than this . What is the problem ? The number of new malware is growing every minute .

This internet security report may be of help . By the end 2010 Symantec will have added about 2.9 million new threats just for 2010.

If the number of new threats every day and the number of Trend Micro updates is not what worries you , please , make it clearer.
