If you install 4.0 you might run into some problems with the install also,so it is better to wait for the next version. It installs something you didnt have on your system before to, and it does not uninstall it if you run the uninstaller.

If you run sysinternals rootkitrevealer, it will come up with these hidden after a scan:

    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\sptd\Cfg\s0 17.11.05 20:58 4 bytes Hidden from Windows API.
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\sptd\Cfg\s1 17.11.05 20:58 4 bytes Hidden from Windows API.
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\sptd\Cfg\s2 17.11.05 20:58 4 bytes Hidden from Windows API.

    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\sptd\Cfg\g0 17.11.05 20:58 32 bytes Hidden from Windows API.
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\sptd\Cfg\h0 17.11.05 20:58 4 bytes Hidden from Windows API.
    HKLM\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Services\sptd\Cfg\ 17.11.05 22:28 0 bytes Hidden from Windows API.

these are all due to Quote:

NOTE: DAEMON Tools V4 also uses SPTD (SCSI Pass Through Direct) driver to access cdroms and it is also automatically installed during DT setup. But SPTD is not removed during uninstallation because it may be used not only by DAEMON Tools but by other applications as well and its removal may disrupt these applications.
